The old playground had many great years at our school, but over time it began to degrade and became unsafe for further use.
Once we begin requesting proposals, we may find that it's possible to build the playground of our dreams for less than $200,000. However, we are aiming for $200,000 to ensure that we don't risk running out of funds part way through the project. We hope that building a new playground at our school is a once in a generation effort, so we want to make sure we don't have to cut corners.
Once we raise $50,000 through the Home and School Association we will be able to begin the RFP process. This will help us to understand in more detail exactly how much money we'll need, and by which dates. Reaching this $50,000 milestone will also unlock additional funding from WRDSB.
WRDSB contributes some funding and services for new playgrounds. For example, they organized and paid for the removal of the old equipment, and will also take care of preparing the grounds prior to construction of the new equipment.
We can accept financial donations, merchandise / gift card donations (e.g. for use in a silent auction), or donations in-kind (e.g. equipment that helps us to run our fundraising events). Please contact us at stjps.homeandschool@gmail.com to discuss further.
There are many ways you can help with our fundraising efforts. Participating in our fundraising events, volunteering your time to help organize and run events, making financial contributions (any amount helps!), or spreading the word to others are all great ways to contribute.
Yes! Donating through the WEFI portal will automatically issue tax receipts. Donations sent via e-transfer to stjps.homeandschool@gmail.com are also eligible for tax receipts (just let us know that you'd like one, and we'll be happy to issue it).
